Pa Akindayomi

How It Started

Pa Akindayomi, the founder of RCCG, was born in July 1909 in Ondo State, Nigeria where he grew up surrounded by idol worshipers, but he knew there was another greater power and yearned to know God.  And this pursuit led him to the Church Missionary Society where he was baptized in 1927 but still spiritually unfulfilled, he then joined the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in 1931.

Our Mission Statement

We exist to reflect the glory of God in our daily lives and relationship with people. We are redeemed into the Kingdom of God here on earth for this one purpose. We are created to worship God privately and corporately as a family. Our worship shall be expressively free. (Matthew. 22:37) A People of “Living Praise” to God

Core Values

Love literally is a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In the kingdom of God, it is a selfless regard and affection of one person for another without sexual implications (especially love that is spiritual in nature) without any motive to benefit from the action. Christianity is founded on LOVE, because God is Love. Hence, we shall be committed to living LOVE, we shall abhor everything contrary to love. We shall give no place for strife and all that promotes strife. We shall promote compassion in all areas of life.

Reference - John 3:16, John 17:23, 1 Corinthians 13:13

Integrity is having moral soundness; honesty; freedom from corrupting influence or motive. We shall keep ourselves within and without the fellowship of brethren and the marketplace in complete freedom from influences engineered from corruptive activities. We shall hold ourselves, individually and corporately to a life of honesty and transparency in relationship with God and man within and outside our fellowship.

Reference – Proverb 11:3, Proverb 20:7, Proverb 21:3 (NLT), Luke 6:31, 1 Peter 3:16 (NLT)

This is the trait of sincere and steadfast fixity to purpose of Christ on earth as well as the micro purpose of fellowship of RCCG Beautiful Gate, Glasgow. It is the act of binding ourselves (intellectually or emotionally) to course of actions, as well as the loyalty and allegiance to the interests of one another in the fellowship as well as the universal church. We shall have a solemn devotion of our life - time, energy, and resources to the cherished purpose of our fellowship and the Church universally

References – Deuteronomy 10:12-13, Acts 2:42, 1 Thessalonians 4:1 (NLT), John 4:34, John 6:38

We shall expect ourselves to persevere with great determination to perform every task with detailed and attentive carefulness in conformation/accord to the dictates of our conscience with the determination to finish well and strong. We shall simply expect ourselves to be committed as true followers of Christ to do the right thing at the right time in the right place and for the right purpose without any sense of condemnation or offense to each other and fellow member of our immediate community. We shall be committed to this lifestyle within and outside our community as a good ambassador of Christ.

References - Proverb 22:29, Proverbs 6:6-8, Proverb 13:4

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. We shall live to understand and enter into the life experiences of each other and other men, with the mind or purpose of sharing in their feelings and working together to alleviate or terminate where possible the discomfort of such life experiences. We shall strive to give excuses for the wrong doing of others as mortals moving towards perfection while not compromising our faith and sense of purpose

References - Ephesians 4:32, Hebrews 4:32

This shall be in the following devotions:

  • Every member of the fellowship shall at all times subject/submit himself or herself to common rules, order, and control. Discipline shall be upheld obedience and a commitment necessary for purity.
  • Where there is a shortfall to (1) above, correction, and possibly chastisement or punishment shall become necessary by way of correction and training.

Discipline as a part of personal development of each member as necessary for the communal healthiness of the fellowship shall be an act of training in accordance with established rules as dictated by the Bible.

References - Proverb 6:23, 2Timothy 4:7, Psalm 94:12-14.

We shall be committed to worthy consideration of each other with due regard and honour. We shall strive to esteem each other in appreciation of the person of Christ in each other as well as the peculiarity of the measure of divine endowment on each other. It is in this regard that abuse or assault (physical or verbal) of any member of the fellowship within (in fellowship) or without (domestic or in macro community) shall be frown at, as well as seen as an assault and abuse to the fellowship as a whole.

References – Matthew 7:22, Philippians 2:3, 1 Peter 2:7, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

As in pursuit of attitude of love, every one shall be expected to walk the noble path of willingness to share of God's goodness and blessedness with all others especially those who are termed less privileged member of the fellowship first and then of the larger community. We shall be welcoming with deep sincerity of heart without a thought of any gain but rather to bring comfort and joy to each other and importantly the guest in our midst.

The attitude of generosity and hospitality shall become a necessity of living knowing that we are all strangers or pilgrims on earth.

References – Acts 20:35, 1 Peter4:9

There is an expected sense of trustworthiness to be nurtured by everyone in the fellowship as custodians and stewards of Biblical injunctions. This sense of trustworthiness therefore makes us answerable and accountable to each other as well as those in positions of authority over us in the fellowship, RCCG and the Church of Christ.

It is further in this light that every decision on the behalf of the fellowship by responsibility or delegation must be made bearing in mind the effect of such action(s) on individuals and communal lives.

References – 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Jeremiah 17:10, Colossians 3:16

It is with important to note that though we shall create a communal responsibility towards the wholistic personal growth of each member of the fellowship, every individual however has personal responsibility towards his/her growth spiritually, career wise, financially, maritally etc. It is expected of every individual member of the fellowship to ensure he/she exploits every opportunities available through organized bible study and praying activities as well as specialized seminars and conferences to develop himself/herself.

This is important as everyone will give personal account of himself/herself before God at the last day. It is the corporate individual growth that translate to enhanced corporate development and influence in the market place.
